Xiaomi 17 Pro And Pro Max : So, I’ve been testing Xiaomi’s nextG flagship phone, and you know, sometimes one phone company will copy another one, but change it up a little bit. Well, I’ve never seen a company change less than Xiaomi has here. They’ve adjusted the numbering on their phones to call them the 17s. They’ve shifted their naming structure to Pro and Pro Max. They’ve announced the phones a month early in September, all while featuring a very familiar-looking camera plateau design.
Now, clearly, this is a marketing trick. This is all to make absolute sure that when you think about the iPhone 17 Pros that you also think and maybe even come across Xiaomi.

Unboxing Experience

If you bought a Xiaomi 17 Pro And Pro Max, this is what you’d get:
- A super tall box
- 100W charger included
- USB-C cable
- Case and frosted hard shell
The Pro Max has the same premium packaging. Already, this feels high-tier compared to Apple.
Design & Display

The weird thing about this phone is it looks almost intentionally like a knockoff iPhone with the naming and the design. The UI even has iOS-style icons and a control center. But when you use it, it doesn’t feel like a knockoff:
- Bright, high-end display
- Ultra-thin borders
- Excellent haptics
- Extremely satisfying typing/navigation
And the rear display? A full second screen with the same specs as the front one:
- 3000+ nits brightness
- 1–120Hz refresh rate
- Full touch responsiveness
- Gorilla Glass protection
Battery & Performance

- Xiaomi 17 Pro: 6,300 mAh (25% bigger than iPhone 17 Pro Max & Galaxy S25 Ultra)
- Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: 7,500 mAh (50% bigger than rivals)
- Silicon Carbon Battery → larger capacity, not thicker/heavier
- Snapdragon Elite Gen 5 processor (next-gen flagship chip)
- 16GB fastest RAM + top storage
- Runs benchmarks ahead of Samsung S25 Ultra
- Stays cool under load
Rear Screen Use Cases

Personalization
- Custom clock faces
- Animated AI wallpapers
- Pets, step counters, watch-like widgets
Music Control
- Beautiful mini player at the back
Quick Notes & Pins
- Save reminders, QR codes, or notes
Notifications
- Similar to Nothing Phone LEDs/Dynamic Island
- Not perfect for calls (mic placement issue)
Camera System

- Rear cameras rival iPhone 17 Pro Max in detail & dynamic range
- Ultrawide okay, but not top-tier
- Zoom very powerful (sometimes over-processed)
- Selfies via rear cameras with back screen → game-changing
- 8K selfie video (highest-quality yet)
- Fun photo-collage & Polaroid mode
Gaming on Rear Screen

- Xiaomi built a custom game controller case
- Play games like Angry Birds on the rear display
- Looks cool but feels more like a gimmick

My Opinion
Xiaomi’s 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are bold flagships. While they clearly borrow design cues from Apple, their dual-display execution, silicon-carbon battery, and top hardware make them stand out in the 2025–26 market.
If you want innovation + endurance, this is your phone.
If you want minimalist elegance, you might feel it’s “too much.”
