Shocking Findings – Fatty Acid Profile
We also checked the fatty acid profile and found something shocking. Linolenic acid was 7.67 in the lab report, while as per FSSAI compendium, olive oil’s linolenic acid should be ≤ 1. Even after retesting thrice, values stayed between 7.48–7.67. This high level matches soybean oil standards, not olive oil.

In the fatty acid profile, linolenic acid was found at 7.67, whereas FSSAI standards for olive oil allow ≤ 1.
To verify, the test was repeated three times:
- First retest: 7.52
- Second retest: 7.48
- Third retest: 7.67
All results were far above the olive oil standard but matched the range for soybean oil.
Refractive Index Test
- Lab result at 20°C: 1.472
- FSSAI guideline for extra light olive oil: 1.4677 – 1.4705
The product failed here too, as the value exceeded the standard range.
Pros & Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Affordable price (₹500 for 1L) | Failed in fatty acid profile (linolenic acid too high) |
| Bestseller on Amazon & Flipkart | Fat breakdown shows huge variation |
| Easily available online | Failed refractive index purity test |
| Attractive packaging | Potential adulteration – results close to soybean oil |
Final Review on Jivo Olive Oil
Jivo Olive Oil fails The Reviewers’ testing due to:
- Incorrect fat breakdown
